FAQs

What is Scout Network?

Scout Network is the section of the Scouts for young adults aged 18–25. It’s a flexible programme designed around your life — whether you’re studying, working, or just figuring things out. It’s all about friendship, adventure, and making a difference.

Who can join?

Anyone aged 18 to 25, regardless of whether you’ve been a Scout before. No prior experience needed — just a sense of adventure and a willingness to get stuck in.

How do I join?

Contact Darkpeak@tsscouts.org.uk to speak to our Network Team who will get you registered!

Who runs Scout Network?

It’s led by young adults like you, supported by a 14–24 Leadership Team. You help plan the programme, make decisions, and shape the unit’s direction.

Do I have to come every week?

Nope. Network is flexible. Come when you can – there’s no weekly commitment like other Scout sections. You can dip in and out around uni, work, or life in general.

What kind of things do you do?

Expect a mix of:
• Social events and meetups
• Outdoor adventures (hiking, climbing, kayaking)
• Community projects and volunteering
• International opportunities
• Skills building and leadership training
• DofE Gold & Explorer Belt expeditions

Got an idea? You can help shape the programme.

Is there a cost to join?

There is no cost to be a member! We charge £2 per meeting to cover things like rent/tea and coffee. For bigger events, you will just pay your entry (if we can’t subsidise!)

Do I need a uniform?

No! Unless you are joining us on formal events such as Remembrance Day or St George’s Day, casual clothing (scout-branded or not!) will be fine! The official uniform is the same as for Adult Leaders, with the addition of a Network Badge!

Can I still be a Scout Volunteer?

YES!! We encourage all of our Network members to volunteer as well as being a member of Network. Whether you’re a Section Team Lead or part of a team who can only volunteer once a month, your time is valued and your passion for Scouting is something you should definitely pass on!

What awards can I work towards?
  • Duke of Edinburgh
  • King’s Scout Award
  • Explorer Belt
  • Scouts of the World Award
  • And many more! You choose the programme – so you decide what to do!
